Transport Community Permanent Secretariat Opened in Belgrade

SEESARI was invited and represented by Chairman dr. Peter Verlič at the opening ceremony for establishing Transport Community Permanent Secretariat on September 13th, 2019 in Belgrade.

The Transport Community Secretariat was opened by European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport Violeta Bulc, Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabić, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović and Acting Director of the Transport Community Alen Baron.

The Transport Community is an international organization composed of the EU and the six Western Balkan Parties (Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro and Republic of Serbia). Its key objective is to extend the EU transport market rules, principles and policies to the Western Balkan Parties through a legally binding framework.

“The Secretariat will be the center of excellence, it will oversee the transport operations, support partners in the region with regards to reforms in the field of transport, it will provide technical assistance for project preparation, and it will assist to partners when faced with difficulties in networking the EU Member States “said Director of the Transport Community Mr. Baron.

The headquarters of the European Transport Community is now ready to serve the interests of businesses and people of the entire Western Balkans region. SEESARI will be an important actor in this process for transport development in this part of Europe.
