Shift2Rail Information Day was held at the head office of Slovenian Railways (SŽ) and was organized by Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking, SEESARI, Slovenian Railways and Institute of Traffic and Transport Ljubljana.
The event was opened by the Chairman of SEESARI dr. Peter Verlic and Mr. Giorgio Travaini, Head of Research & Innovation at SHIFT2RAIL.
The information day presented SHIFT2RAIL Annual Working plan for 2018 and Call for proposals 2018 to SEESARI members and other interested stakeholders with a focus on the opportunities to obtain EU funding for railway research and innovation projects in South East Europe, a region which has largely been off the radar in S2R project work up until now. To help spur rail development in this region, SEESARI intends to aid these efforts and play an important role in improving the rail situation in South East Europe.
The new SHIFT2RAIL call for proposals is a good opportunity for receiving funds for railway related projects. In 2018 there will be 78,7 million EUR of SHIFT2RAIL/EU funds available for new projects (total value of projects 155 million EUR), of which almost 60 million is available for SHIFT2RAIL members and 21 million for non-members.
