Presenting the Vision of a High-Speed Rail Network in Southeast Europe as a Bridge Between Europe, Asia, and China.
The SEESARI initiative is actively participating in the UIC High Speed 2025 Congress, taking place in Beijing from 8 to 11 July 2025, and organized by the International Union of Railways (UIC). This global event brings together leading experts, institutions, and stakeholders in high-speed rail, serving as a premier platform for exchanging knowledge, technologies, and strategic insights into the future of rail transport.
Aleksandar Dobrijević, Deputy Director of Prometni institut Ljubljana and a SEESARI member, is representing the initiative at the event. He is delivering a presentation titled:
“The Development of a High-Speed Rail Network in Southeast Europe as a Bridge Between Europe, Asia, and China.”
The presentation underscores the strategic importance of Southeast Europe as a vital transport corridor linking the European, Asian, and Chinese rail systems. SEESARI highlights the need for:
- Strengthened cross-border cooperation within the SEE region
- Integration of the region into core TEN-T corridors
- Synergies between high-speed rail infrastructure and sustainable mobility
- Alignment with Euro-Asian rail initiatives, including the Belt and Road
SEESARI’s participation at UIC High Speed 2025 reinforces the initiative’s international role as a key advocate for Southeast European interests and a driver of tangible progress toward rail modernization, interoperability, and enhanced connectivity across the region and beyond.
